Old Tibetan gilt bronze statue of Bodhisattva White Tara jeweled with turquoise and rubies on a lotus base, great quality of detail and magnificent execution. Sitting in the lotus position, on the palms of her hands and feet are depicted eyes each and a third eye on her forehead, all of which symbolizes her careful attention. Her left hand is in the protective mudra and her right is in the wish-granting mudra. According to Buddhist traditions, the White Tara is health, healing and longevity, the White Tara is extremely powerful and is very close to sentient beings, like a mother to her children. She is very quick to fulfill our wishes and grant us happiness and long life, as well as help us develop wisdom. Material: Gilded bronze (we cannot confirm that it is gold) Measures approx: 22.5x16.5x9.5cm - 8.8x6.5x3.7" Weight approx.: 1.06Kg Age: mid-20th century or earlier. Previous origin: United Kingdom. The previous owner found it in an attic while clearing out a house in Lowestoft (Suffolk County), we have no further information. Condition: Good with normal wear and tear due to age and use. Some traces of rust on the left side of the forehead. Missing gem socket on the right ankle. Patina with a lot of dirt, especially on the front, probably from remains from burning incense. The consecration base cover was missing. It has been respectfully cleaned on the surface to remove dust from the surface, but most of the blackish areas hide the gold of its original surface.
