Chinese silver-plated filigree bracelet with hand-painted panels Bracelets of this type were produced in China for the local and export markets around 1900. This example is of unusually high quality. It is made up of 5 hinged segments or mesh sections of silver plated copper wire that has been finely and evenly woven. 

Three of the five segments have been set in raised frames with a rectangular plate probably made of bone, each of which has been delicately hand-engraved and then painted in color with scenes of Chinese courtesans. The rest of each segment has been decorated with silver plated filigree wire and grain work in swirling floral and foliage patterns, the ring is one segment with the same design as the bracelet.

The bracelet opens with a push button mechanism. You don't keep your security chain. The silver has softened over time and now has a coppery hue in places from wear.

Condition:

The bracelet is missing the safety chain hook (it would be advisable for a silversmith to integrate a new chain if he is going to use it) and the ring has defects typical of its age.
