Antique Natural Coral and Silver Choker. Ethnic necklace from Yemen Red coral and silver. Hirz amulet necklace

This old natural Coral and Silver necklace from the early 20th century has its most likely origin in Yemen. It is composed of a multitude of graduated natural and genuine red coral and salmon beads , it integrates several round and rondelle beads in silver as separators and/or ornaments to finish with the centerpiece , a tube with silver filigree , similar to a Hirz amulet box , the double hook closure with filigree and eye is easy to put on and take off. This type of silver and coral craftsmanship was made by Yemeni Jewish master silversmiths , it was probably a wedding gift , this type of necklace was worn by local Arab women , as well as local Yemenite Jewish women , the coral , silver and Its symbology in its filigrees was used as an amulet against the evil eye. The necklace is in good condition , considering its age and normal wear of the parts , it is stable and wearable. When we received it it was dirty but we have done a basic cleaning. It has previously passed through a US collector and has currently fallen into our hands in Spain.
